We are excited to announce the launch of the High Photon Efficiency Ground Segment Modem (HPE-GSM) project with the support of the European Space Agency.

As future space missions generate ever-growing volumes of scientific and imaging data, the need for faster, more efficient, and more secure communication becomes increasingly important. Through HPE-GSM, Eventech will develop a next-generation optical communication modem designed for deep-space, lunar, planetary, and advanced ground-segment applications.

The project builds on Eventech’s expertise in ultra-precise timing technologies to enable highly efficient free-space optical communication – a key technology for the future of space data transmission. Compared to traditional radio-frequency communication, optical communication can offer significantly higher data capacity while also making transmissions more difficult to intercept.

The planned system will support high-speed, photon-efficient communication aligned with international optical communication standards and will be validated in a real free-space optical environment.
